Vineland Police Records Unit
The Vineland Police Department runs a dedicated Records Unit. The Records Supervisor is Captain Brian Armstrong. You can reach the unit at 856-691-4111, option 2. Email requests go to vpdrecordsrequest@vinelandcity.org.

The Records Unit handles copies of arrest reports, incident reports, and 72 hour booking logs. Walk-in requests are accepted at the police department during business hours. Phone requests can be started by calling the main line and selecting option 2.
For training and records questions, a separate line is available at 856-691-4111 extension 4959. The email for that division is barmstrong@vinelandcity.org. This handles internal records, but they can direct you to the right place for booking data.
Note: Have your case number or incident number ready when contacting the Vineland Records Unit. This speeds up the search for your 72 hour booking record.
72 Hour Booking OPRA Requests
Under N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1, government records in New Jersey are presumed open. OPRA is the tool for getting Vineland booking records. You file a written request. The city has seven business days to respond per N.J.S.A. 47:1A-5.
Vineland accepts OPRA requests by mail, in person, and by email. Standard copy fees apply. Letter pages cost $0.05. Legal pages cost $0.07. Electronic copies by email are free in most cases.
Be precise in your request. Include the person's full name, date of arrest, and any booking or case numbers. The more detail you provide, the faster Vineland can pull the right file. Broad or vague requests may be denied or delayed.
Vineland Fingerprinting Services
The Vineland Police Department provides fingerprinting services at the station. These prints are used for many purposes. Licensing applications need them. So do some volunteer programs and immigration matters. Firearm purchase permits also require fingerprinting through Vineland PD.

Fingerprint cards are sent to the NJ State Police for processing. Background checks run through the NJ State Police Criminal History system. These are separate from a 72 hour booking search, but they use related databases.
Cumberland County Jail Records
Vineland arrests that result in detention go to the Cumberland County Jail at 54 West Broad Street in Bridgeton, NJ 08302. The county handles intake for all municipalities in Cumberland County.
County booking records can include more detail than the city log. Intake screening, bail amounts, and housing data are recorded at the jail. Under N.J.S.A. 47:1A-3, the core information is public. Name, charges, and booking date are available to anyone.

You can check current inmates through the Cumberland County inmate lookup system. This online tool shows who is currently held at the county jail. For custody status alerts, VINELink is free and covers Cumberland County.
Note: The Cumberland County jail processes bookings throughout the day. The 72 hour booking log updates on a rolling basis for Vineland and all other county municipalities.
Vineland Record Expungement
Some Vineland arrest records can be sealed. Under N.J.S.A. 2C:52-1, a person petitions the court for expungement. The wait time depends on the offense. If granted, the 72 hour booking record no longer shows up in public searches.
Not all arrests qualify. Certain serious offenses are excluded. The court reviews each petition on its own facts. Once a Vineland booking record is expunged, law enforcement must treat the arrest as if it did not happen.
Searching Vineland Records Online
Vineland booking records are not posted on the city website. You can find related court records through the Vineland public records center. Court case lookups are also available through the state courts portal.
If the city denies your OPRA request, the Government Records Council handles complaints. You have 45 days from the denial to file. The GRC process is free. It does not require a lawyer.
For quick checks on whether someone is in custody at the county level, the online inmate lookup is the fastest option. It covers all of Cumberland County, not just Vineland.
